The gay experience is different for each individual, but holds a common thread – the journey.
There’s no “coming out” to being straight. It is what it is. If you discover you’re outside of the norm, it’s a journey of self-understanding and acceptance.
Often, that journey is walked alone.
It doesn’t have to be that way. In all languages and cultures, the art of storytelling is passed between and across generations to teach, advise, and importantly – make the struggles and pains of life less intimidating, difficult, and isolating.
The LGBTQ community, especially youth, needs this storytelling tradition. A little over a generation ago, even speaking of the gay experience was verboten, dusted under the rug.
It doesn’t have to be that way. We’ve assembled a group of storytellers – all orientations, identities, backgrounds, upbringings, who are sharing themselves with the world.
The fear, loneliness, and heartbreak of the past belongs in the past. Generations have hidden their truth.
It doesn’t have to be that way.
